General Introduction of China 15mm 18mm 19mm 20mm Aluminum FRP Fiberglass GRP Honeycomb Panels as stone veneer substrate:

Stone is a very traditonal decorative building material that are used for facade cladding, flooring, interior wall, kitchen construction etc, for its natural beauty and antique texture. But there are a few shortages of natural stone because generally we use a thickness between 15mm to 25mm thick, it's heavy, and easy to break during handling, also it could be very costy for some rare patterns. Thus there is a new solution by glueing stone veneer of only 3mm to 8mm thick (most of the time 5mm) with honeycomb panels as substrate material to form total panel thickness from 20 to 25mm to replace solid stone slab. The honeycomb panels used to glue stone veneer could be FRP (GRP, fiberglass) faced honeycomb panels, or Aluminum faced honeycomb panels. Both these two types of honeycomb substrate panels are strong, rigid. And most generally thickness of these stone honeycomb panel substrates will be 15mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm depending on the thickness of stone veneer thickness & the final stone honeycomb panel thickess that we want to achieve.

1. Reduce the stone weight. No matter FRP (GRP, Fiberglass) honeycomb panels or Aluminum honeycomb panels are light weighted materials, using them as substrate panels to glue a thin stone veneer can greatly reduce the unit weight of the stone slab. That means easier to carry, handle & install for workers, and the weight of building is reduced too.
   

2. Reduce the cost. Some stone patterns are rare so they are expensive. Using FRP honeycomb panels or aluminium honeycomb panels as substrate to make stone honeycomb, we only consume about 1/3 or 1/4 of the original stone slab, we can save the stone cost by 50% or even more. 

3. Add to panel strength. FRP (GRP, fiberglass) honeycomb panels or aluminum honeycomb panels are strong hexagonal structure with good impact resistance and flatness, it can improve the strength of stone and making it not easier to break like its orginal shape. 

4. Easy & faster installation. Honeycomb panels makes the stone lighter, installation is simple with back bolt installation. A few workers can easily install a few hundreds square meters of panels one day.
