What are Polyurethane PU (PUF) Core Sandwich Panels?

PU Core Sandwich Panel is a three-layer composite panel that is consisted of two layers of metal or nonmetal skins being laminated to a PU (polyurethane) foam core.

Polyurethane is also known as PU or PUF (Polyurethane Foam) or PUR, is a low density light weighted foamed material. It’s a type of insulation material that is widely used for building or cold storage rooms for thermal insulation. PUF itself is not a decorative material, so we laminate it with different types of surface materials such as color coated aluminium, steel, fiber cement, GRP etc to make it a sandwich panel. In this case, a PUF sandwich panel can be used a decorative material and meanwhile keeps an excellent thermal insulation property.

What features do the Polyurethane PU (PUF) Core Sandwich Panels have?

1. PU foam (PUF) core sandwich panel has outstanding thermal insulation. The thermal conductivity is low to about 0.017-0.022W/(m·k), can greatly insulate the heat from going in & out.

2. PU foam (PUF) Core Sandwich Panel is light weighted material, as the density of polyurethane is just at around 35kgs/cbm to 45kgs/m3, making it easy to carry, fabricate & install.

3. PU foam (PUF) core is fire retardant material, in case of fire accident, the PU foam will quickly carbonized under heat and won’t spread the fire.

4. PU foam has good compressive strength, thus the sandwich panel won’t be easily distorted.

5. Nice looking & durable. When it’s laminated with aluminium skins, the whole Aluminum PU sandwich panel will have a nice decorative effect. When it’s laminated with FRP, the whole FRP PU sandwich panel will have good corrosive property.

Applications of Polyurethane PU (PUF) Core Sandwich Panels:

1. Architectural purposes. Aluminium PUF sandwich panel can be used as building wall panels, roofing panels, cold room wall panels etc, for its nice decorative effect & good thermal insulation property.

2. Cold storage purposes. FRP PU sandwich panel can be used for cold storage truck body panel, for its good property of anti-corrosive, high impact resistant and excellent thermal insulation property.
