In China and worldwide, trucks are categorized into dry van and refrigerated truck (cold storage). And the truck boxes will be made from different type of panels because the fuction is different. General dry van truck box has to be high strength so normal FRP honeycomb panels will be ideal for such applications; While refrigerated truck box needs to be thermal insulated thus foam core panels will be more proper. We generally use fiberglass (also called GRP, FRP) as the skin layers and laminted to a thick foam core (like PU/PUF or XPS) to make into a rigid and thermal insulated sandwich panel. 

FRP (fiberglass, GRP) sandwich panels made with PU or XPS foam core, are avaiable in different widths and lengths. The FRP PU / XPS foam core panel width is from 1220mm to 2300mm; And the panel length is cut to size up to 5800mm. The GRP sandwich panel thickness depends on customer's design, such as 20mm, 25mm, 30mm up to 100mm thick; And generally the FRP (GRP, fiberglass) skin sheet thickness is 1.5mm, 2mm or others as per customer's need. Foam core density around 40kgs/m3 and it's functioning well for cold storage purpose of these refirgerated trucks.

1. Good panel strength. Fiberglas sheets (GRP, FRP) are fiber reinforced material and the sheet strength is high with good impact resistance, it's not easy to dent or break; And adding the PU or XPS foam core, such a 3 layers sandwich structure has a strength balancing each layer making it remains at good shape and strength. 

2. Excellent chemical resistance. Refrigerated truck with cold storage function, is frequiently used for delivery of iced sea food or other iced stuffs that could be quite wet, salty or weak acid or alkaline conditions inside the truck box. FRP sheet as surface can well resist to such condition and remain in good shape for long time.

3. The sandwich foam core of PU or XPS as a very good heat insulation property, and meanwhile very light weighted. Thus such sandwich panels made of PU or XPS foam core and FRP (GRP, fiberglass) faced making the truck box light weight for fuel saving and low heat transmission to keep cold storage condition good.
